Birthday Brilliance: Freya Renton and Erin Friel Shine as 11 Records Fall at Juvenile Indoors

Day 2 of the National Juvenile Indoor Championships concludes with a total of 11 new national records. This brings to 18 the total number set over the two-day period. For double national record holder Freya Renton (Westport) day 2 brought the perfect birthday gift. Renton add the u16 1500m record to the 800m one she set the previous day. The perfect birthday gift. Both Freya and Holly celebrated their 15th birthday racing around the track in Athlone.

Erin Friel (Letterkenny) has taken a giant leap towards establishing herself as a noteworthy 400m athlete as she set a new national 400m record of 54.42. While Pole Vaulters Jamie Hyland (SLOT) and Michael Kent (DMP) set yet another pole vault record in their respective age groups. There was no stopping race Walkers Seamus Clarke (Moy Valley) and Matthew Newell (Tuam) in their record breaking performances. While Joseph Magbagbeola (Navan) was totally shocked with his record in the boys u16 60m.
